Group Therapy Jobs in Kentucky

If you are thinking about becoming a group therapist you will want to know what kind of jobs you can work in, or perhaps, you are looking to transfer your license from another state. The first thing you will want to consider is making sure you are able to practice. This means you will have to meet the state requirements for your license; this will include things like making sure you have the proper education as well as meeting the state requirements. This will help to ensure that you have the right amount of skill to do the different jobs that are open to those in the group therapy field.

One of the best places to start looking when you are ready to apply for jobs in the group therapy field is to start at the state level. There are often jobs for state government that you can work in. This can include many different areas including working at correctional facilities, residential facilities, schools, and many, many more. You will want to make sure that you are comfortable with whichever of these you would like to apply for. Schools from elementary to the university level will provide you with options for places to apply. They each have a need for a councilor in many different ways.  At the university level a group therapist may help to introduce the students to the different mental health options that they have related to the school, they may also run special group sessions for students who are facing similar problems.

Another choice you have when you are ready to find a job in group therapy in Kentucky is working for not just the state government but working for government at the local level. This can include things that are run by the county, or by the city instead of run by the state.

Private positions can also be a consideration when it comes to your jobs in Kentucky. This area can often mean that you are working with a group of different therapists including those that work as group therapists and work as different types of therapy.  Doctors offices are often considered privatized as well and they sometimes employ therapists on their staff as well.

Private schools like the government run schools will also often employ a therapist with group therapy skills to help their students; it is not limited to the public school sector. So private universities, or other privatized schools will be an option when you are applying for jobs in Kentucky.

Corporations occasionally hire therapists for their staff. This will help them to keep the mental health of their employees, and offers you another choice when it comes to applying for a job in the group therapy world in Kentucky. So you may want to look into finding a corporation that is hiring therapists, group sessions could easily help employees.

You’ll have many choices, as you can see, when it comes time to apply for a position in Kentucky. If you are transferring in from another state something important to keep in mind is that you will want to make sure that you are still meeting the Kentucky state requirements. Each state has a different set of rules and regulations when it comes to getting your license and you may have to meet more of these than you did in the state you are already licensed in. Some states consider waiving these requirements if you are already likened and others do not so be sure you double check. You will however regardless of meeting or not meeting the requirements you will still have to place another application for a license, and pay applicable fees associated with this process.

There are many ways you can take your career when you are working in the group therapy realm. If you are interested in working with children and helping to guide them then schools will be a good choice for you, if you are interested in working with troubled teens, perhaps working within a juvenile facility will be the right answer for you. As you can see, it’s a very personal choice and you’ll have many options to pick from.
